Crafted entirely from black obsidian, silver obsidian or mahogany obsidian, the ashtray reveals the dense reflective character of natural volcanic glass through polished architectural surfaces. The engraved gold ZAVEN by G.P.Grant emblem introduces a controlled focal point within the composition, reinforcing the object’s identity while preserving its minimal geometric clarity.

Obsidian (Volcanic Glass) — Origin: Armenia
Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed through the rapid cooling of lava, creating a dense material with a reflective surface and deep visual character.
Armenian obsidian is recognized for its purity, sharp structure and distinctive mineral patterns. Depending on the variety, the surface reveals dense black tones, silver directional reflections or layered mahogany-brown formations.
Used since antiquity for carving, ceremonial objects and ornamentation, obsidian remains one of the most expressive natural materials in sculptural design.
