THE ARTISTRY OF MATERIALS
Pure crystal containing 24% PbO allows one decorative idea to retain its intensity across pieces of very different scales. On the tray, the hand-cut waves spread horizontally; around the whiskey tumblers, they follow the compact walls; and on the decanters, they rise vertically, translating the grandeur of a triumphal march into coordinated movement.
Changes in cutting depth create pronounced contrasts throughout the arrangement. As the viewpoint shifts, reflections travel from the tray to the glasses and decanters, making the complete set appear as one changing composition rather than a group of separate objects.
